New Opening times.

As with most things its good to review what you do and why you do it!  We have looked at the times that are busiest in terms of calls and visitors and with this in mind our phone lines will open from 8:am and close at 4Pm Monday to Friday and the Showroom will open 9:am-4:00pm Monday to Friday. This will start  the first week of December 2017. We hope this makes for an improved customer experience as we work with both our Health Professionals and our private customers. We would also strongly recommend either making an appointment to visit the showroom or call ahead to check our availability as we can become busier sometimes more than others and we would like to give you our fullest attention....

VAT relief (for residents in a Hospital or Nursing Home)

Every now and again, we are asked about VAT relief for people with Disabilities. The subject normally arises in the form of a comment such as ” Mum doesn’t pay VAT”.  Strictly speaking that isn’t true.  There is however a subtle but important definition that makes all the difference.  All sales attract VAT, however some people under certain circumstances are granted relief from VAT and as such the rate is reduced to “zero” which is not the same as a product being exempt from VAT. The difference comes starkly into focus when the criteria for relief are fully understood. Firstly, the product being purchased must be clearly and distinctly made to suit the needs of a disabled person, so for example a wheelchair would meet that definition. Then there are things that will help a disabled person but are not in fact explicitly made for disabled people, say for example a long handled brush and pan. This is useful to anyone with a bad back  or a high seat chair that makes it easier to get up from, neither are solely for use by a disabled person.* Secondly, the person must have a lasting or chronic condition, i.e. not a broken leg or something that will heal or get better with treatment over time. In other words a long term condition that will most likely remain.   Thirdly, The purchase must be for personal and domestic use, in other words not for business purposes, such as a care home purchasing equipment for patient care. The reason i cited a care home for example was that a care home does...

Its a Vanguard First!

We held the first of our PPP special events with the Vanguard team in Wakefield this month and the response has been fantastic. The theme was Posture Pressure & Positioning, each subject had its own mini presentation which draws on Tissue viability,  Moving & Handling and the use of suitable equipment to promote good posture,  to hi-light the relationship between pressure care and posture and the general well being and comfort of residents in a care environment. Here are some of the feedback Comments. “Liked to see the products in use” “Feel it would benefit senior staff” “ Will be able to use with residents and easy to follow” “ Every staff member should receive this training.  It is so informative with regards to skin integrity, pressure sore prevention and correct positioning for comfort” “Gained lots of knowledge on posture” “Gave good examples of how to position people and use of equipment” “ Hi lighted  importance of using slide sheet with residents to protect skin” “Food for thought” “ I would recommend this training session to my colleagues, very informative” Wow, a great response from a very receptive audience. The Vanguard team in Wakefield have made significant headway in promoting best practice and have worked hard to build trust with the local care homes and are seeing significant benefits including cost savings, reduced hospital admissions, fewer ambulance callouts and not least improvements to the quality of life and care for residents. if you would like our team too help your team  and take the next step in improving carer training and to see some of the latest developments in...

It’s tool free removable wheels and compact battery pack make it ideal for transporting (heaviest item weighing only 15 Kg). It has lightweight wheels with an option for self propel and a reduced overall width (seat plus 170 mm) making it narrow enough to manoeuvre around the tightest of spaces. The Esprit Action4NG provides all the advantages of driving a power wheelchair indoor and outdoor, without the size and bulk of an average power wheelchair.
